Reusable Work Product Evaluation
Reusable work product evaluation is the
reuse engineering
task during which potentially
reusable work products are evaluated for incorporation in the
reuse repository.
The typical objectives of the reusable work product
evaluation task are to:
- Determine if potentially reusable work products are of
sufficient value that they should be incorporated into the
reuse repository.
Reusable work product evaluation can typically begin when
the following preconditions hold:
- Potentially reusable work products have been
identified.
- The
reuse
team is adequately:
- Staffed.
- Trained or experienced in reusable work product
evaluation.
Reusable work product evaluation is typically complete when
the following postconditions hold:
- Potentially reusable work products have been
evaluated.
- Potentially reusable work products worthy of
incorporation have had their status updated and major defects
noted.
Reusable work product evaluation typically involves the
reuse team performing the following steps in an iterative,
incremental, and parallel manner:
- Obtain a potentially reusable work product (e.g., from an
endeavor, evaluation copy from vendor).
- Determine the appropriate evaluation technique to
use.
- Evaluate the potentially reusable work product using the
selected evaluation technique(s).
- If worthy of incorporation into the reuse repository,
then:
- Change its status to being prepared.
- Note any defects requiring correction prior to
certification.
Reusable work product evaluation can typically be performed
using the following techniques:
Reusable work product evaluation typically results in the
production of the following work products:
- List of potentially reusable work products worth
incorporating into the reuse repository with defects
requiring correction (e.g., missing documentation)
noted.
