Launch Testing
Launch testing is the
testing of the completed
application in its
production environments during the
delivery
phase.
The typical objectives of launch testing are to
determine:
- The extent to which the application is ready for
deployment to the user community.
- If the application is acceptable to the customer.
-
Alpha testing, which is the
initial development organization internal dry run of the
acceptance tests of the application in the production
environment.
-
Beta testing, which is the
testing of the application in the production environment by a
few key users prior to acceptance testing and the release of
the system to the entire user community.
-
Acceptance testing,
which is the formal customer-observed testing to determine if
the application is acceptable to its customer.
- Except for test planning, launch testing should not occur
until after the launch phase begins.
